Alrite after a disappointment with the currently realeased mazda rx7 versions i have decided to take my original idea and finish it. In other words ill be finishing my Mazda RX7. I decided to go with the Juiced2 convert and add my touches to it from the original i modeled sometime ago.
Some of the basic features ill add:
-modeled high beams
-possibly modeled tail lights
-my drift kit
-my drag kit(which has wheely bar )
...and more

heres my start on the project the freshly converted mesh which will need alot of clean up:

by clean up i mean this(look at the hood's mesh in the following screen)
Current projects:
Running Gear
   Phase 2 Brakes:
     Brembo / BAER / KSPORT / Endless / StopTech / Wilwood / Outlaw / Project Mu

Really nice, the orginal car has tons 'o' polys - what the hell since when are car models so detailed ? These thing sure evolved a lot since NFS 3 HP when cars were made out of like 100 polygons lol
Are you planning to make the car have lots of extras like (removable interior, doorboards, window wipers, gauges, rollcage, blah blah) or leave it as it is ?

backa mate no offense but i dont like your mesh, its imposible to make decent photoshop paintjobs for it, and plus the non modeled lights drive me crazy. But still feel free to release your version i'll still make mine, mainly for personal preferences, its not like some sort of competition.

@drifter92: hmmm thres an idea, well let me release a stock version first, with body kits, and ill see if im not to bored of it and make those little custom details you speak of, i'll keep it in mind... for now to clean up the mesh

Looks nice MisterSir, maybe now there will be an rx-7 that the rotary will drop into without having to use the engine thing(not saying its hard to but im lazy).

Plus the rx-7 in the downloads section (the one by backa) crashes my game when I go drive in the city.

that could be caused by many things, if your using my rotary engine its the engien not the car, i havent done the LOD for it, so it renders every parts and the game cant handle all the polys in the city, ill fix that later. But ye the car itself is pretty high poly

added through 11 hours 15 minutes

heres some progress on the mesh clean up:

here is what the chasis looks like so far:
-decided to keep those lights plugs and the front part of the chasis, that was changed in backa's rx7, still need to do some stuff in the engine bay(engine brackets and supports)

and here is the cars first render

i havent tested it in 2.21 but some guy wanted permision to convert it and post it on his website, hasnt complained so i guess it does work.

Ye the freshly exported model was 60k polys to my suprise i was expecting half that but damn have games come far, So far in the clean up ive brought it down to 52k polys. ill keep working on it.

alrite heres progress update on the mesh fixing:
keep in mind i still havent done the proper smoothing groups so some details may not be visible
i managed to get the more generic parts of the chasis that can be mirrored done, including the rear and under body of the car, here is what the rear looks like:

the trunk space

the underbody

and heres a view of the chasis mesh, i tried to keep it as quad as posible but the original simple has alot of triangles and i cant avoid all of them.

so far just the chasis is about 6k polygons.

Nice job, it's really starting too look like a Mazda, and good to hear that you like my idea , also i have another one - is it possible to script the headlights too open when you click it with the tuning thing...just like a hood would open...

EDIT (posted this on legalracer.net too) : I had an idea a wheelie bar - a WORKING wheelie bar - do it like any other wheelie bar but without the small wheels...then you madel some of those small wheels and atach them to the wheelie bar just like you atach the normal wheels to the suspention... When you have a rigid wheelie bar without actual wheels when the car does a wheelie it just hits the ground and acts like a brake
But with a wheelie bar like this when the car pops into a wheelie it's going to continue to go on smoothly...

The lights are possible, ive seen it done and have done it myself aswell. I think you can make them pop open when the time turns to night aswell. As for the small ideas i have some myself aswell:
-changable gas tank cap
-that rear strut bat thats currently part of the mesh ill make an add on piece later on
-the rearview mirror will be part of the windshield for now, but ill make it add on later

As for the wheelie bar im not quite sure how the rotating wheels on the wheelybar will work but ill see if its posible, i already have a model of a wheely bar/drag body kit from my old model, looks somethign like this:

@shouty: dude dont worry about the quarterpanels, just cuz their not removable doesnt mean they cant be decalable. with the right scripting you can make every part paintable and decalable. So dont worry it will work just fine. Plus it saves polygons that way.

Oh btw when im done ill release a paintjob starter kit for the car, ill draw the different maps and where and how each parts UV map is placed, something like the way skins are done in LFS, just so ppl can make the paintjobs much easier. As for the car itself i'm planning on having a left sided steering wheel chasis (american model), and a right sided steering wheel chasis(japan model), as well as a right sided performance chasis which will be striped of uneeded pieces and be lighter.

The model is looking awesome so far, and modeled highbeams FTW.

How many body kits are you planning on doing for this? There are a few out on the net that I'd love to see implemented in this game, if you want I can gather some reference pictures for you of a few different kits.

well i have two that ive modeled, i think one is pretty close to the C-West body kit and the other i dont realy remember where i got the reference but it was again some famous brand, i could export the Juiced kits aswell, and the Veilside Fortune one, but those will be later on, if you have references you'd like to share and see some body kit get made, post them if i like them ill make them. But priority 1 is getting the stock model cleaned up and in game for a stable alpha release.

added through 5 hours 40 minutes

today i decided to take a break from the RX7 and started up on a Kei Office paintjob for the S15, its basicaly the green S15 paint job that Kazama's car was painted with: heres a pic i got doors/chassis/sideskirts/front quarterpanels done, just hood and bumpers are left:
